UNILORIN Admission GUIDE: UTME, SSCE and Direct entry Subjects required for Agriculture , Agriculture Extension and Community Development , Aquaculture and Fisheries, Home Economics, Food Science and Forestry and Wildlife 

The Faculty of Agriculture, University of Ilorin was established in the 1982/83 session and had its foundation Dean in the 1983/84 session.

As at the time of writing this post, the Faculty comprises of seven (7) Departments in the institution which are

  1.     Agricultural Economics and Farm Management
  2.     Agricultural Extension and Rural Development
  3.     Agronomy
  4.     Animal Production
  5.     Crop Protection
  6.     Home Economics and Food Science
  7.     Forest Resources Management

I know of a friend who chooses to study Geology in UNILORIN and choose Chemistry, Physic and Geography as subject combination for Jamb, the school eventually grants him the admission but when he starts the clearance he was not cleared, wondering what could be the problem, he went to the admission office to complain, then he was told the subject combination for Geology is English Language, Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, guess what happen?   "his admission for Geology was Terminated".

FACULTY OF AGRICULTURE ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS  

UTME, JAMB and O'level Subject Combination and requirements  for Agriculture

O'level subject combination for Agriculture:  Five ‘O’ level credit passes to include English language, Mathematics, Biology/Agric. Science, Chemistry and any two of Physics, Geography, Economics, Animal Husbandry and Crop Husbandry

JAMB Subject combination for  Agriculture: English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry and one of Biology and Agricultural Science.

Direct Entry requirements for Agriculture: 
At least two A’ level passes in Chemistry and one from Biology/Botany/Zoology/Agric Science, Economics, Physics, Geography and Geology/Mathematics (Pure & Applied)

SPECIAL CONSIDERATION (WAIVER) REMARKS of UTME AND Direct Entry requirements for Agriculture 

UNILORIN Accepts OND/NCE credit pass in Agriculture into 200 level while those with HND may be admitted into 300 level

UTME, JAMB and O'level Subject Combination and requirements  for Agriculture Extension and Community Development

O'level subject combination for Agricultural Extension and Community Development: At least 5 O-level WAEC, SSCE, GCE Credits at not more than two sittings in the following subjects: English Language, Mathematics, and any other three from Biology or Agriculture, Chemistry, Physics, Geography, Economics, Food and Nutrition and Home Management.

JAMB Subject combination for   Agricultural Extension and Community Development: English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry and one of Biology and Agricultural Science.

Direct Entry requirements for Agriculture: 
A Higher National Diploma (HND or equivalent) in Agriculture or related field of study with a minimum of lower credit from a recognized institution in Animal Husbandry, Agricultural Extension and Rural Sociology, Agricultural Economics and Farm Management, Food Science, Home Economics, Fishery, Forestry and Wildlife, etc; will be admitted into 300 level.

Special Considration (WAIVER) Remark of UTME AND Direct Entry requirements for Agriculture 
The entry point is at the 300 level.


UTME, JAMB and O'level Subject Combination and requirements  for Aquaculture and Fisheries

O'level subject combination for Aquaculture and Fisheries: Five (5) O’level credit passes at not more than two sittings including English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology, Fisheries or Agric. Science and any other from Physics, Geography and Economics.

JAMB Subject combination for  Aquaculture and Fisheries: English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry and one of Biology and Agricultural Science.

Direct Entry requirements for Aquaculture and Fisheries: 
 i) A’ level passes in Chemistry, Biology and at least a pass in any of Physics, Geography and Economics.
(ii) OND/ND in Fisheries,  Agriculture or related disciplines with at least lower credit grade plus five 'O' level credits in English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology, Fisheries or Agric. Science and any other from Physics, Geography and Economics.
(iii) HND in Fisheries, Agriculture or related discipline from NBTE Accredited Institutions.

UTME, JAMB and O'level Subject Combination and requirements  for Agriculture Extension and Community Development

O'level subject combination for Home Economics: Credits at SSCE/NECO/GCE ‘O’ Level, NABTEB or equivalent at least 5 subjects including English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology/Agric. Garment Making, Catering Craft practice, Clothing and Textiles. Dyeing and Bleaching, Home Management, Jewelry, Leather work, Printing and Decoration, Printing craft Practice, Tourism.

JAMB Subject combination for Home Economics: English Language, Biology. Chemistry and any of the following: Agric. Science and Economics.

Direct Entry requirements for Home Economics:
GCE ‘A’ Level or equivalent in Chemistry plus at least One of the following subjects; Biology/Botany/Zoology/Agric. Science/Economics/Mathematics plus U.M.E. entry requirements.

 OND in      Agriculture/Catering Hotel Management and Food Science, Consumer Science, Hospitality and Tourism Management, Event Management with at least Lower Credit grade from recognized tertiary Institutions. Plus U.M.E. entry requirements.

 NCE in Biology/Chemistry/Home Economics or Agriculture/Food and Nutrition, Home Management, Clothing and Textile.

Special Considration (WAIVER) Remark of UTME AND Direct Entry requirements for Home Economics 
Candidates with a pass in Biology, but who have credit in Agric. Science, Food & Nutrition / Home Management may be considered.


UTME, JAMB and O'level Subject Combination and requirements  for Food Science

O'level subject combination for Food Science: Credits at SSCE/NECO/GCE ‘O’ Level, NABTEB or equivalent at least 5 subjects including English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics, Food and Nutrition and Biology/Agric.

JAMB Subject combination for Food Science: English Language, Biology/Agric. Science, Chemistry and any of the following: Physics, Mathematics and Economics.

Direct Entry requirements for Food Science:
  1. GCE ‘A’ Level or  equivalent in Chemistry plus at least One of the following subject; Biology/Botany/ Zoology/Agric. Science/Economics/Mathematics plus U.T.M.E. entry requirements.
  2. OND in Agriculture/Catering Hotel Management and Food Science and Technology with at least Lower Credit grade from recognized tertiary Institutions. Plus U.T.M.E. entry requirements.
  3. NCE in Biology/Chemistry/Home Economics or Agriculture//Food and Nutrition

Special Considration (WAIVER) Remark of UTME AND Direct Entry requirements for Food Science
(i) Candidates with a pass in Biology, but who have credit in Agric. Science may be considered.

(ii) Ordinary pass in Physics is acceptable in lieu of Credit Pass

UTME, JAMB and O'level Subject Combination and requirements  for Forestry and Wildlife

O'level subject combination for Forestry and Wildlife: Five ‘O’ level credit passes at not more than two sittings to include; English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology/Agricultural Science; and any of Geography and Economics, with at least a pass in Physics.

JAMB Subject combination for Forestry and Wildlife: English Language, Chemistry, Biology/Agricultural Science, and any of Geography, Economics, Physics and Mathematics.

Direct Entry requirements for Frestry and Wildlfe:
 At least two ‘A’ level passes in Chemistry and one of Botany / Biology / Zoology; Geography; Economics; Mathematics with minimum of 5 points.  Botany and Biology will not count as two 
 subjects.
Special Considration (WAIVER) Remark of UTME AND Direct Entry requirements for Food Science
i) OND/ND (Forestry/Wildlife) or related field with minimum of Lower Credit from recognized institutions into 100 level.
ii) HND (Forestry/Wildlife) or related field with minimum of Lower credit may be admitted into 200 level.
iii) NCE Agriculture double major at Credit Pass level may be admitted into 200 level.
