Higher Nation Diploma (HND) is a Certificate Award to a full graduate from polytechnic unlike Ordinary National Diploma that is Award to students after two year in Polytechnic.
The Certificate is also considered for Direct Entry Admission into universities in Nigeria, also people prefered to go for some medical related course like Biochemisty, Microbiolgy so as to apply and offer Direct Entry admission to study Medicine and Surgery.
To say the fact, university in Nigeria don't welcome Higher National Diploma (HND) for Direct Entry (D.E) admsion to study medicine no matter the course of study,

- Abia State University (ABSU), Ambrose Alli University (AAU) and Olabisi Onabanjo University accept Degree in related programme with no specific grade, and if there will be any specific grade it will be included in the Admission Advert as at the time of Admsision.
- University of Binni (UNIBEN) accept at least a Second Class Upper Division from a recognised University in either B.Sc Biological Sciences or B.Sc. Medical Sciences.
- Benue State University (BSU) and Lagos State University (LASU) accept a good Honours degree minimum of Second Class Upper in relevant programme.
- University of Calaba (UNICAL) accepts Degree not below a good Second Class Lower Division in Anatomy, Biochemistry, Physiology, Nursing Science, Medical Laboratory, Biology, Zoology or Chemistry. Does not accept IJMB for Direct Entry.
- Ebonyi State University accepts B.Sc Second Class Upper Division in any Biological Science plus ‘0’ level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and Physics at one (1) sitting
- University of Ilorin accepts B.Sc Second Class Honours in Anatomy, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Physiology, Zoology and other Basic Science programme.
- University of Jos requires D.E candidates to fufill the UTME requirements
- University of Lagos (UNILAG) accepts B.Sc. first class/second class upper in programmes such as Physiology, Biochemistry, Physiotherapy, Ophthalmology, Pharmacology and Zoology.
- Niger Delta University (NDU)accepts a B.Sc. with a minimum of second class upper division in Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Zoology, Chemistry, Physics and Botany.
- OAU accepts B.Sc. with a minimum of second class upper division in relevant programme (Sciences).
- Federal University, Dutse (FED-DUTSE) accepts at least Second Class (Lower) degree in one of the Health Sciences programmes (e.g. Human Anatomy, Human Physiology, Nursing etc), Biology, Biochemistry or Microbiology.
- UNIOSUN accepts first degree in relevant Biomedical Sciences Medical, paramedical, Biological, Chemical or Physical Sciences with not less than second class upper division.
- Edo University, Iyamho (EUI) accepts B.Sc. in relevant fields not below Second Class Lower Division.
- Delta State University (DELSU) First Degree in relevant Biological or Physical Sciences discipline not less than Second Class Upper Division may be considered in addition to the UTME requirement. Degree from Science Laboratory Technology is not accepted.
Schools that accepts IJMBE/JUPEB/CAMBRIDGE A'level for direct entry into medicine and surgery?
Incase you dont know, currently there are three accredited A'level program in Nigeria, Interim Joint Matriculation Boad Examination Modrated by ABU, Joint Universities Preliminary Examination Board (JUPEB) Moderated by Unilag and Cambridge A'level.
These there afore mentioned A'level program are consider for direct entry admission into 200L in Nigeria Universities to study any course of your choice.
The certificate obtained from these A'level programmes are well acceptable by Nigerian Universities for Direct Entry Admission into 200L.

- University of Binni accepts at least three (3) 'A' Level passes not more than C or a minimum of 12 points in Biology or Zoology, Physics and Chemistry at not more than one (1) sitting.
- University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) accepts minimum aggregate of 13 Points in Physics Chemistry and Biology
- Unilag accepts JUPEB/'A' Level passes in Physics Chemistry and Biology
- Lagos State University LASU requires a minimum of C in each of the subjects (Physics Chemistry and Biology )
- LAUTECH accepts 'A' Level passes in Physics, Chemistry and Biology or Zoology
- Niger Delta University (NDU) 'A' Level passes in Chemistry, Biology and Physics with a minimum of 10 points at not more than two (2) sittings.
- Usmanu Danfodiyo University (UDU), University of (UNIMED) and Ebonyi State University (EBSU) accept 'A' Level pass, Mathematics in lieu of Physics.
- Federal University, Dutse (FED-DUTSE) accepts three (3) 'A' Level subjects in Biology, Chemistry, and Physics obtained from IJMB.
- Osun State University (UNIOSUN)a minimum of 10 points in Physics, Chemistry and Biology or Zoology at 'A' Level or equivalents.
- Edo University Iyamho (EUI) accepts 'A' Level passes in Physics, Chemistry and Biology or Zoology in addition to UTME requirements.
